It’s 2016 already and I must admit this number sounds a bit Science Fiction for a person born in the early 80’s like myself. Growing up, I always used to imagine that by the year 2020 we would surely have flying cars to go to work or better yet teleportation was such a common thing that I would finally be able to enjoy traveling. But although none of the marvelous things I envisioned for the future ever came to fruition, I haven’t lost hope quite yet. Maybe by 2040 we’ll finally have the cure for old age or at least the cure for cancer. The older I get the more I need to believe that immortality is attainable. Yeah, I know it’s naive and just wishful thinking but hey, as I’ve already learned by watching “The Addams Family”: “The human spirit, it is a hard thing to kill. Even with a chainsaw.”
The one childhood wish I managed to make happen recently was getting a “homicidal maniac” costume, and by that I mean this Wednesday Addams inspired dress. I was looking for a dress like this for ages, I’m not kidding you! And in 2013 when Valentino launched a collection full of white collared black dresses, this type of dress became super popular and it was copied by a number of retailers. However, I have not been able to find one that I liked entirely and for a decent price up until now. This one is from Disturbia, a UK based alternative clothing store for your inner goth-rock-grunge supervixen. I bought it on SALE for £27.96 and the fabric is better than expected although a little hard to iron properly, as opposed to the sweater featured below that I received for review and that is completely different from the fabric pictured on their site (I still like the design though).
At the end of last year I also made the biggest commitment in my life so far, and that was buying a house with my boyfriend. It was super stressful and I’ll probably do a blog post for people wanting to buy real estate because I have gained a lot of experience and I already know lots of tips and tricks that nobody told me and that I wish I knew from the get-go. We also have a huge list of DIY projects for the new home so maybe I’ll be adding a new “Home Decor” category to the blog if anyone will be interested and if we indeed find the time for all those projects.
I also did these test shots below in my new “home office” and I am super happy that I have enough light now for indoor pictures and not to mention a lot of space that I was severely lacking in my apartment.
Now that I also got a new DSLR for Christmas (this one) I really plan to find the time and learn how to use it, so I will be taking tons of selfies until the enthusiasm wears off (which in my case tends to be a very short amount of time).
I also want to know what you would like to read more or less of on my blog this year? More fashion or more beauty posts? Tutorials, Hauls, DIY? I might even consider doing Youtube videos at some point because all beauty and fashion bloggers are on Youtube nowadays, but I am still struggling with the idea.
Have a great year and I would love to hear your suggestions in the comments section below!
